Georgetown Women's Tennis Triumphs at Towson

Georgetown Women’s Tennis Team Serves Up Success at Towson Event
Hoyas notch 11-4 singles record, 5-1 in doubles; Freshman Chu undefeated
The Georgetown University women’s tennis team kicked off their fall season with a bang at the Towson Hidden Dual, squaring off against squads from Towson, Johns Hopkins, Hampton, Coppin State, and Mount St. Mary’s. If you’re looking for a Cinderella story, you might want to keep an eye on these Hoyas—they’re already making some serious racket.
The Hoyas wrapped up the weekend with an impressive 11-4 singles record and a 5-1 doubles tally. Freshman Julia Chu, cool as a cucumber under pressure, went undefeated and snagged her first two career singles wins. Talk about making an entrance—Chu didn’t just dip her toe in the collegiate waters; she dove right in and made a splash.
Georgetown opened the action against Towson on September 19, grabbing singles 2-1 and sweeping doubles 2-0. The next day, they faced Johns Hopkins and served up a singles sweep, 3-0, though Johns Hopkins managed to snag the doubles match. When it came time to face Hampton, both teams traded blows, each earning two singles wins. Georgetown then chalked up another doubles victory against Coppin State. By September 21, the Hoyas were still firing on all cylinders, defeating Mount St. Mary’s with a 2-1 singles record and a 2-0 doubles result. It was one of those weekends where the scoreboard just kept smiling back at them.
With momentum on their side, the Hoyas are now gearing up for the Delaware Invite from October 3 to 5. If their rackets stay as hot as they are now, you might want to keep your popcorn handy—this season could be a real showstopper.
